  • Interval – setting the time interval between the frames (10 ms to 20 s).

Play:

  • Operate – replay start/stop button.
  • Repeat – replay mode on/off button.
  • Interval – setting time interval between the frames (10 ms to 20 s).
  • Start Frame – setting the first recorded frame (1 to 1000).
  • Cur Frame – setting the current recorded frame (1 to 1000).
  • End Frame – setting the last recorded frame (1 to 1000).

Storage:

  • Start Frame – setting the first stored frame (1 to 1000).
  • End Frame – setting the last recorded frame (1 to 1000).
  • Location – memory choosing button (Internal – internal memory, External – external memory).
  • Safe – recorded signal saving.
  • Load – saved signal record loading.

The record may be analyzed using the Cursor menu. Setting (fine and coarse) the number of frames and intervals between them is conducted by the navigation buttons.

Measure menu

Sensor parameters (voltage and time) may be determined using this menu. Measure menu control buttons are used for the following setups:

  • Source – channel selection (CH1, CH2)
  • Type – parameter type selection (Voltage, Time)
  • Measure All – displaying all the parameters
  • Measure All function of Hantek DSO8060 digital oscilloscope
  • Clear – clearing the display from all the parameters

The measured parameters are presented in the characteristics table.

Cursor menu

Using this menu enables collecting the information about any signal point as well as the difference between the points for different signals. The menu starts with selecting a required cursor measuring mode – manual, track, auto.

Manual mode:

  • Type – measuring type (amplitude or time)
  • Source – signal source selection (CH1, CH2, Math)
  • Cursor A, Cursor B – cursor selection

Track mode:

  • Cursor A – signal source selection (CH1, CH2, Math)
  • Cursor B – signal source selection (CH1, CH2, Math)
  • Source – signal source selection (CH1, CH2, Math)
  • Cursor A, Cursor B – cursor selection
Track function of Hantek DSO8060 digital oscilloscope

Auto measuring mode.

In this mode a parameter chosen in Measure menu is reflected on the display by cursor.

Cursor motion is realized using the navigation buttons: Up, Down, Left, Right.

Pass/Fail test menu

Using this menu allows detecting the waveform overrunning the set mask limits. Pass/Fail menu is situated in the Utility section.

Pass/Fail menu control:

  • Enable – pass test mode enabling and diasabling
  • Source – tested signal source selection (CH1/CH2)
  • Output – pass test mode start conditions selection (Pass/Fail/Pass + Beep/Fail + Beep)
  • Operate – pass test mode operation Stop/Start
  • Stop Output – selecting a waveform recording stop after executing a condition in Output section (ON/OFF)

For example, if Fail+Beep is selected in the Output item and Stop Output is switched to ON, after the signal overruns the mask limits the recording of signal stops and a beep sounds. If the Output item is switched to Pass, the waveform recording stops when the signal enters the mask limits.

  • Mask – signal mask adjustment:
    • Vertical – vertical waveform pass
    • Horizontal – horizontal waveform pass
    • Create – mask creation
    • Location – mask saving location: internal memory, external memory (Internal/External)
    • Save – mask saving
    • Load – mask loading from memory

In the left upper corner of the oscilloscope display a waveform counter is displayed (valid forms/faulty forms /total number).

Math/Ref menu of mathematic measurements and reference signal

The menu is switched on using M/R button. It is also used for switching between Math and Ref modes.

Math menu view:

  • Enable – Math mode enabling and disabling
  • Operate – mathematic operation selection (A+B, A-B,  A×B,  A/B, FFT)
  • Source – source channel selection (CH1/CH2)

Trigger data recording menu

The signal recording start condition is set using the trigger function. Hantek DSO8060 handheld digital oscilloscope allows signal recording under two conditions:

  • Source – source channel selection (CH1/CH2/Math)
  • Slope – rising or falling signal edge slope (Rising/Falling)
  • Sweep – recording selection (Auto/Normal/Single): auto – signal recording before condition execution, normal – signal recording after condition execution, single – single waveform recording and a stop.
  • HF Reject – high-frequency filter (ON/OFF)
  • 50 % – setting the trigger level to the middle point of trigger signal vertical swing

Pulse – reaching a certain pulse duration

  • Source – source channel selection (CH1/CH2)
  • When – trigger condition selection: pulse is longer than…, pulse is shorter than…, pulse equals… (-More/+Less/+Equal)
  • Setting – pulse length setting (10 ns – 10 s)
  • Sweep – recording selection (Auto/Normal/Single): auto – signal recording before condition execution, normal – signal recording after condition execution, single – single waveform recording and a stop
  • HF Reject – high-frequency filter (ON/OFF)
  • 50 % – setting the trigger level to the middle point of trigger signal vertical swing

ALT mode enables alternate triggering from CH1 and CH2 on two above mentioned conditions. This mode allows synchronizing two signals and their position relative to each other.

Hantek DSO8060 digital oscilloscope testing

A certain ratio of the oscilloscope sample rate and the investigated signal frequency is a condition for correct input signals displaying. The more is the ratio the higher is the waveform displaying accuracy. The minimum ratio is 2:1. In theory, this condition is observed for both single channel and dual channel operation in Hantek DSO8060 digital oscilloscope. Indeed the real situation differs from the ideal one and I will give illustrative examples of displaying the signals of different forms.

I will use UNI-T UTG9020B digital generator with maximum generated signal frequency of 20 MHz for conducting this experiment.

I used a UNI-T UTD2102CEL digital oscilloscope with 100 MHz bandwidth and 1 GSa/s sample rate to test the capabilities of the digital signal generator.

The results are different while using coaxial cable and standard test leads. Here are the measuring results showing the signal forms and magnitudes that may be obtained using Hantek DSO8060 generator.

Hantek DSO8060 Digital Oscilloscope Overview Conclusion

To conclude we should say that the reviewed Hantek DSO8060 Digital Oscilloscope is a practical and multi-functional device. Since it is positioned as a portable oscilloscope there are certain requirements put forward to its technical characteristics. On the one hand, the dimensions should be as small as possible, and on the other hand the device operability and stand-alone operation time should be the highest possible. Concerning the first condition, Hantek DSO8060 is characterized by optimal dimensions ensuring the location of a large display and all the needed control buttons on the front panel. No doubt that the control is less comfortable than that of stationary oscilloscopes, but once you get used to it there is no difficulty in accessing any option. Let us sum up the operation parameters. Hantek DSO8060 comprises all the basic digital oscilloscope functions including signal parameter measuring, data recording, math functions, waveform storage, settings and images storage, etc. Besides, a single device combines both signal generator and multimeter functions.

Stand-alone operation of Hantek DSO8060 digital oscilloscope is ensured by a lithium-ion battery with 3500 mAh capacity and 7.4 V voltage. A good 6-hour operation parameter is provided.

As you may see from the tables of oscilloscope and generator modes testing, in spite of a large bandwidth and sample rate the signals with the frequencies from several megahertz are transferred and received with form bending. Using coaxial cable significantly decreases external noise. Standard test leads give almost the same result.
